Webinar - Constraint Management for Information Technology

Home>Conferences>Webinar Constraint Management for Information Technology

About the webinar

All organisations have come to depend on their IT performance to some extent and that dependency is increasing year by year. For a growing proportion of companies their "Information Technology" performance has become what determines their capacity to make more money in the future. So, what is the problem? What is the constraint?

A manager’s instinct is to strive to control everything. That is not just ineffective, it is a practical impossibility. So, where should managers commit finite resources to achieve their enterprise’s mission?

If you are looking for new ideas to define your technological strategies, or better manage your IT, then this webinar, "Constraint Management for Information Technology", could help you find answers. Dr. John Ricketts, distinguished engineer from IBM (Ret.) and author of the books "Reaching the Goal" [2009] and the recently published "Exceeding the Goal" [2020], will show you how the implementation of Constraint Management principles (a.k.a. the Theory Of Constraints / TOC) can bring tremendous results in IT environments.

Constraint Management for IT

The speakers

John Ricketts

Dr. John Ricketts capped his career as a distinguished engineer, chief technology officer, and corporate strategist at IBM. John is the author of the bestseller Reaching the Goal: How Managers Improve a Service Business Using Goldratt’s Theory of Constraints [2009] and of a chapter in the prestigious TOC Handbook. His latest, recently published book is Exceeding the Goal: Adventures in Strategy, Information Technology, Computer Software, Technical Services, and Goldratt’s Theory of Constraints [2020].

Philip Marris

Philip Marris will be interviewing John Ricketts in this webinar. He started his Theory Of Constraints journey when he joined in 1986 Creative Output and worked with Eliyahu Goldratt the author of the bestseller The Goal. In 1994 he wrote a bestselling Theory Of Constraints textbook in French. He is a recognized Lean expert and usually combines Lean with TOC. He founded Marris Consulting based in Paris France in 2005, and has implemented TOC over 270 times in over 30 countries.

Exceeding the goal

"The author uses his own experiences in manufacturing, research, consulting, software, and strategy as the basis for the book. The "adventures"that are chronicled are true stories about real-life situations-some successful, and others not. Valuable lessons can be learned from both, with the failures serving as invaluable cautionary tales"

Reaching the Goal

“There is no doubt that this is a truly original and groundbreaking work in applying the Theory of Constraints. I run a services company and learned some things about the services business. Anyone involved in large services companies needs to look at what John is proposing. I will definitely quote this material frequently.”

Chad Smith, Managing Partner, Constraints Management Group
