In 1982, I was chairman and a major shareholder of a company ranked by Inc. Magazine as the sixth fastest growing company in the United States. And I was extremely frustrated. Many dozens of clients had bought our production scheduling software and, guided by our associated education, had successfully implemented it. I was frustrated that we didn’t have thousands of such clients. No, I don’t think that I was greedy or overly ambitious. I had very good reasons to expect that every plant would embrace our package with open arms. ...

An exclusive interview with Jeff Cox, the co-author of best-selling business novel: "The Goal" with dr Eliyahu Goldratt. This famous book is about "The Theory of Constraints". Watch this video to find out how this wonderful book came to life.
A remarkable number of people ask me about Eliyahu Goldratt’s book The Goal: A Process of Ongoing Improvement. Students especially used to ask me when I was Dean of Rotman. [...] The book, in all of its 337 pages, makes two intellectual or conceptual points.
The first is that if you wish to optimize the outputs of a system, you need to have an objective function — i.e., a clear goal. And it should be an intelligent one — an outcome that you really want.
The second is that any system will produce its outputs at the rate of the slowest step in the system. If a system is made of a single step, then the output accumulates at the rate of that single step. If the system is multistep, output accumulates at the rate of slowest of all of the steps.

Description by Philip Marris, CEO and founder of Marris Consulting, of the 3 types of constraints you can find in an organization: 1) The bottleneck that prevents from making more money in the short term 2) The constraint that prevents from making more money in the future 3) The meta constraint of "Management Attention"
Philip Marris started his Theory Of Constraints journey in 1985 when he started working with Eliyahu Goldratt. He has implemented these ideas over 300 times in all sorts of organisations worldwide.
I firmly believe in the importance of introducing the principles of the Theory of Constraints at an early age. Given its inherent simplicity, this is definitely achievable. Why not begin with simple stories tailored for 6 to 8-year-olds? These narratives are designed to unravel TOC concepts through engaging and relatable scenarios, making learning both fun and impactful.
Join us in this educational journey and empower your children with the tools to think critically and solve problems effectively from a young age.
