The "2-for-1" Rule as a lever for performance

The "2-for-1" Rule: a simple method to accelerate flow and deliver on time

One of the most important challenges for many companies is how to go faster : how to shorten production cycles or deliver projects earlier. However, modifying planning systems in production environments to achieve this goal is often complex, time-consuming, and risky. And reducing the expected durations of projects is difficult given that organisations have difficulty in honouring their "long" durations.

And yet, simple changes can easily accelerate you production and your projects; the "2 for 1" rule does this.

The "2 for 1" rule is very simple: a new unit (such as a production order, an order, or a project) can only be launched into the system if two units have been previously released (finished). Stop starting and start finishing! The emphasis is on completing activities already underway before starting new work.

This approach helps limit the volume of work in progress and, consequently, naturally reduce lead times.

The webinar reviews the foundations of this rule and how to implement it in practice, as well as its impact on organizational performance, whether in industrial contexts or project portfolio management.

To enhance your expertise, Marris Consulting organizes training sessions on Theory Of Constraints applied to production and projects environments

Theory of constraints training

Marris Consulting, expert in Theory of Constraints & Critical Chain Project Management

Marris Consulting is an expert in the Theory of Constraints (ToC) and Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM). As industry consultants, we are focused on helping process and manufacturing industries reach their highest levels of performance by using Constraints Management  combined with Lean and Six Sigma. We also use Critical Chain Project Management which we sometimes combine with Lean engineering to improve project performance. If you are unsure about the actions which need to be implemented to improve operational efficiency, our industrial management consultants can also conduct a performance audit. Furthermore, our experts host numerous Theory of Constraints (ToC), lean and project management training sessions throughout the year.
