Theory of Constraints, Critical Chain Project Management, Lean : industry consulting & training - Marris Consulting
During the TOCICO 2022 international conference in Orlando, Philip Marris has interviewed David Updegrove, author of the book The Critical Chain Implementation Handbook.
David Updegrove had the opportunity to learn a lot about Critical Chain when he was working with Eliyahu Goldratt in the last few years of his life, when he was codifying Critical Chain in a "Strategy & Tactics Tree".
The "Strategy & Tactics Tree" gives a rigorous structure to go through the implementation of Critical Chain. It is like a checklist that helps you to do things in the right order and make sure you have not missed anything and spot a problem.
Recently, David realized that there were several good books in existence about what Critical Chain is and the thinking behind Critical Chain but there was no book that was really the "practical how-to guide" of how to implement it.
Then, he decided to write a book that really describes how to implement the Critical Chain. The book is a success and is now used by various large corporations.
In his book, David Updegrove developed something called "the Three Questions" in order to check on the work that you have done step by step, to make sure that you have done it correctly and that it is delivering the results that you hope and expect it to deliver.
If your work does not deliver the expected results, then you have to ask why. You have to go back and find out what is the false or the flawed assumption that you have made so that you can adjust your thinking and then re-implement it until you get that expected result.

To enhance your expertise, Marris Consulting organizes training sessions on Theory Of Constraints applied to production and projects environments
Marris Consulting is an expert in the Theory of Constraints (ToC) and Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM). As industry consultants, we are focused on helping process and manufacturing industries reach their highest levels of performance by using Constraints Management combined with Lean and Six Sigma. We also use Critical Chain Project Management which we sometimes combine with Lean engineering to improve project performance. If you are unsure about the actions which need to be implemented to improve operational efficiency, our industrial management consultants can also conduct a performance audit. Furthermore, our experts host numerous Theory of Constraints (ToC), lean and project management training sessions throughout the year.
