SupplyWe and Marris Consulting presented their first webinar on using Theory of Constraints to boost performance

The Zhejiang SME Association has launched a series of activities through a "China-EU Entrepreneur Leaders Forum", which provides a platform for entrepreneurial investment, economic and trade exchanges, as well as cooperation between China and the EU. It is also an opportunity for companies to familiarize themselves with new, or at least little known, management methods, used in particular in Europe.

“How to Boost Operational Performance and Ensure Rapid and Risk-Free Transformation” is the theme chosen for the opening ceremony, organized by the Zhejiang SME Association Committee, sponsored by SupplyWE and Hangzhou Gaode Intelligent Project Technology Co. , Ltd.

Marris Consulting was invited to speak on this occasion.

How to boost operational performance and ensure rapid risk-free transformation

The world is changing faster and faster, with new products, new competitors, pandemics, etc. The demand, in quantity, product mix, technology, is evolving faster and faster and yet the capability and capacity to adapt ourselves haven’t speed up a lot, it can still take weeks, months or even years to integrate a new technology, to install new machines, to hire and train capable people, to design a new process or to develop a new product.

Despite the common and known approaches, such as the Lean Manufacturing, companies struggle to increase their performances rapidly and sustainably to face the variability and increase of outside demands.

To boost the improvement approaches and bring tremendous results, they must be focused on the right place:

It is impossible today to distribute the work evenly throughout an organization, there is always a resource which have a greater workload than the others and which become the capacity constraint of the system, and it is on this resource, that determines the performance of the whole organization, that all efforts should be lead on.

It is the core principle of the Theory Of Constraints (TOC), developed by Eliyahu Goldratt and promoted thanks to the best-seller The Goal, first published in 1984.

Since 1984, numerous applications of TOC have been developed among which, TOC in production, the Drum- Buffer – Rope (DBR), and TOC in project environment, Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM).

During this webinar, Philip Marris (>35 years of TOC&Lean experience), presents the essential characteristics of TOC, explains the DBR and CCPM functioning, and shares the significative results ones can expect from these methods, while illustrating his words with many Marris Consulting’s practical cases.

Find out how to optimize your production and project management performances with quick and concrete results, by focusing on 1% of the resources that determine 99% of the overall performance of the company.
