The Theory Of Constraints (TOC) was developed by Eliyahu Goldratt and promoted thanks to the best-seller The Goal, first published in 1984.
The method, although less (re)known than Lean and other management methods, is nevertheless more and more relevant today, and is based on simple concepts: it starts from the principle that in any system there is a resource whose capacity is less than the others, thus the system is unbalanced.
Therefore seeking the full performance of all the means / resources individually does not improve the performance of the system, on the contrary it is necessary to focus on the least capacitive element, the constraint of the system. Thus by concentrating Lean progress approaches in the right place, Theory of Constraints improves performance more quickly.
Find out how to optimize your improvement process with quick and concrete results, by focusing on 1% of the resources that determine 99% of the overall performance of the company. By identifying what limits sales, Theory of Constraints helps to reconnect with growth and avoid the process of continuous layoffs.
In this webinar, Philip Marris, who has more than 30 years of experience in the use of Theory of Constraints (TOC), presents the essential characteristics of the method, between theory and practical cases, taken from Marris Consulting's assignments.
The end of the webinar is devoted to a questions and answers session.
Philip started his Theory Of Constraints journey in 1986 when he joined Creative Output and worked with Eliyahu Goldratt, the founder of TOC and author of the worldwide bestseller “The Goal”. In 1994 he wrote a bestselling TOC textbook in French.
He is also a recognized Lean expert and usually combines Lean (Manufacturing/Engineering/Management) with TOC. He founded Marris Consulting based in Paris France in 2005.
Half their business is outside of France in Europe and the rest of the world. He is bilingual and bi-cultural French/English. He is very active in the TOC community. He has implemented TOC over 250 times in over 30 countries. His clients include: Air France, ArcelorMittal, Ariane Group, Embraer, GSK, McDonald's, Procter & Gamble, Qiagen, Safran, Salzgitter-Mannesmann, Siemens, SKF, Thales and Zodiac Aerospace.
After the theory, find out about cases of Theory of Constraints implementations and the associated results:
Marris Consulting is an industry consulting and training company specialized in the Theory of Constraints (ToC) and Critical Chain Project Management. We focus on improving the performance of manufacturing and process industries by using Constraints Management combined with Lean and Six Sigma. To boost project performance, we also use Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM), which we sometimes combine with Lean Engineering. Our 2-day performance audits, our performance consulting services and our project management, Lean, ToC & CCPM training by our industry consultants offer a wide range of solutions to help our clients around the world reach the highest possible levels of performance.
