Theory of Constraints, Critical Chain Project Management, Lean : industry consulting & training - Marris Consulting
On March 31st, 2026, Philip Marris will take part in a special online event organized by TOCPA to celebrate the life and legacy of Eliyahu Goldratt, founder of the Theory of Constraints (TOC).
This event will bring together a group of practitioners, consultants, and leaders who either had the privilege of knowing Eli personally or whose careers and ways of thinking were profoundly influenced by his ideas. Each participant will share reflections on how Goldratt’s work has shaped their professional journey and continues to influence management practices today.
On this occasion, Philip Marris, CEO of Marris Consulting, will share insights drawn from nearly 40 years of working with the concepts developed by Goldratt—concepts that have deeply shaped his approach to management and organizational transformation. Throughout his career, Philip Marris has applied TOC in a wide variety of contexts, ranging from industry and aerospace to services, project management, and supply chains.
Date: Tuesday 31st of March,
Hour : 5:00pm (CEST / Paris)
11:00am (EDT / New York).
Free online, in English.

In his talk, he will revisit several key insights at the heart of the Theory of Constraints: understanding that organizations are intrinsically unbalanced systems, recognizing that performance is determined by a limited number of constraints, and acknowledging that improving results depends on leaders’ ability to focus their attention where it has the greatest impact.
He will also explain how these principles apply not only in industrial environments but also in services, complex projects, and many other types of organizations.
The presentation will also address several important themes from Goldratt’s legacy, including the discipline of focus, the importance of protecting managers’ attention, and the role of structured logical thinking in solving complex problems. Philip will also discuss how Goldratt used storytelling—most notably through his book The Goal—to convey powerful management ideas and to spread the Theory of Constraints worldwide.
Through this testimony, Philip Marris will offer a personal perspective on Goldratt’s enduring influence, sharing lessons drawn from several decades of practice and reflecting on the intellectual discipline required to remain faithful to the TOC journey while adapting its principles to the challenges organizations face today.
Philip started his Theory Of Constraints journey in 1986 when he joined Creative Output and worked with Eliyahu Goldratt, the founder of TOC and author of the worldwide bestseller “The Goal”. In 1994 he wrote a bestselling TOC textbook in French.
He is also a recognized Lean expert and combines Lean (Manufacturing/Engineering/Management) with TOC. He founded Marris Consulting based in Paris France in 2005.
Half their business is outside of France in Europe and the rest of the world. He is bilingual and bi-cultural French/English. He is very active in the TOC community.
