Energy 2026

ENERGY 2026 is a free, fully online conference taking place on 6 and 7 October, bringing together around 100 speakers and 2,000 live participants from across the global energy sector. The purpose is to support Energy Transition in the very widest sense. It's an opportunity for colleagues at every level to hear directly from industry leaders, ask questions, and build their understanding of where energy is heading — without leaving their desk.

This year's programme is organised around ten themes:

1.   Game Changers — the breakthroughs reshaping the energy landscape

2.   Resilience & Geopolitics — navigating energy security in an unstable world

3.   Carbon Removal on the Rise — the growing momentum behind carbon capture and storage

4.   Powering Data Centers — meeting the energy demands of AI and computing

5.   AI & Energy — how artificial intelligence is transforming the sector

6.   Energy Startups to Watch — the innovators shaping tomorrow's energy system

7.   Mastering Major Projects — delivering complex energy infrastructure on time and budget

8.   Investing into the Future — where capital is flowing in the energy transition

9.   Smart Assets — digitalisation and optimisation of energy infrastructure

10. The Future of Gas — natural gas and LNG's evolving role in the transition

Marris Consulting intervenes in the 7th theme, introducing Critical Chain Project Management to the audience.

Philip Marris' Conference de Philip Marris - Deliver more projects, faster with Critical Chain

The energy sector is evolving and entering a new operating paradigm. Companies in the industry are facing new challenges and must now more often manage a portfolio of a multitude of smaller, more interdependent projects, often competing for the same critical resources. The result is conflicting priorities, fragmented teams, slipping schedules, and customer commitments that are becoming increasingly difficult to meet.

What if the problem does not lie in the individual performance of each project, but rather in the way the entire project portfolio is managed?

Taking into account the actual capacity of existing teams and accepting the inherent variability of projects are two key principles—often overlooked by traditional project management methods—on which Critical Chain Project Management (CCPM) is based.

CCPM, which is part of the Theory Of Constraints, helps the organization focus on its real capacity constraints and provides both teams and management with clear visibility into true priorities and the actual health of each project.

The benefits can be substantial: faster project completion, more projects delivered with the same resources, greater reliability of committed delivery dates, less expediting and fewer daily crises, and an increased ability to absorb a growing project portfolio.

These principles will be illustrated through a real-world case study from a Siemens subsidiary operating in a complex project-based business environment: how Critical Chain helped accelerate projects, make more effective use of constrained resources, and greatly simplify prioritization and decision-making, in particular through the use of the Fever Chart.

A presentation to discover how to move from a project portfolio that controls you to a system that you control.
